Hi, I’m John,

It doesn’t matter what the photographer sees, what matters is what the lens captures.

I live in London next door to Kent. Married with 2 children and slave to our cat called Keith.

I have been photographing since I was knee high to a Tyrannosaurus Rex, but it is not my job, just part of my life. I don’t specialize in any particular genre, I happen to enjoy pressing that little black button a lot and I don’t particularly care what is in front of the lens, unless it’s the lens cap.

A little bit more about me, I like:

  • Music from Bowie to Beethoven via Pink Floyd.

  • Art from Singer Sargent to Turner via Vettriano and Banksy.

  • Travelling - anywhere as long as I have a camera with me.

  • Reading books on Art, Photography and Physics. If I wrote a book it would be ‘Quantum Theory of Photographic Colours in Black n White’.

  • To do my thinking in Caffe Nero, people watching in a wine bar in Madrid and my relaxing in Scotland.

  • To spend a week on a desert Island with Vivian Maier, Berthe Morisot, Marie Currie and Kate Bush.

  • To share a bottle of wine with all the people mentioned above plus Caravaggio, George Best, King Leonidas, Boudicca and Lois Lane.

  • Playing Paintball and watching the Red Devils (when they win).

As for dislikes, let’s not go there, but I would mention just a few; brooms, coat hangers, middle lane drivers and the fourth putt on a golf course.

Years ago many Native Americans would often refuse to have their photo taken as they believed that the process could steal a person's soul. Photographs don’t steal your soul but should portray it
