Modelling

Modelling can be enjoyable, exciting and lucrative as well as giving you the chance to meet a number of interesting and nice people. It isn't always the best looking that makes the best model. Personality, style and unique features can play a large part in being successful. However, models do need these qualities to be captured by the camera. Basically you do need to be photogenic. You may also need to have Lady Luck sitting in your corner.

Some people do not find it easy; you have to pose, act and sell. It's all an act. If you can't perform for a client, sell their product or service then there is no point you being there. As soon you take their money you become a product that has to serve the client's requirements. Don’t forget most models cannot make a living purely from modelling,

There are a number of different areas of modelling, some are very specific others can be a lot more relaxed:

Fashion:

Commercial: basically anything that is not fashion.

Body Part:

Glamour

Alternate

Petite

Plus size

Photographers go through new model portfolios looking new talent. Some you see look like they have potential but are held back because their pictures have been taken at arms length by a phone, or they are blurry or just uninteresting. If you are determined to succeed you need to research what is required. Join model sites such as Mayhem Models, Purestorm or Purpleport. Check out the Casting options or if you can afford it, pay for some professional pictures. Give yourself a fighting chance.

Your portfolio  is your window to the world and should show your full potential and what you are capable of.

But Remember shoots should be relaxed, fun and productive for both the model and photographer.
